We are called.
We are called to teach . . .
to nurture, to nudge, to persist.
And we are called to learn . . .
to be silent, to watch, to listen.
We are called to connect with students and see their hearts.
We are called to uncover gifts and encourage wonderings.
We are called to polish stones and water seeds.
We are called to instill worthiness and independence and agency.
And we are called to open windows,
Letting in the fresh air of possibility and hope.
We are called to revere courage and curiosity and joy
For ourselves and for our children.
Yes, we are called to shape young lives.
But, also to be shaped by theirs.
Such a magnificent calling this is.
What a privilege to answer . . .
One child, one moment, one day at a time.
