Check out these great posters from the National Center for Families Learning.
I love their slogan . . It Just Takes a Minute!
The first poster is focused on the ease and importance of taking a few minutes each day to read to your child.
It Just Takes a Minute: Read with Your Child – Read with your child at least once a day, read stories with expression, tell about stories, choose interesting books, and talk about how words are used in stories.
The second is focused on talking with your child.
It Just Takes a Minute: Talk with Your Child – Tell stories, describe your actions, describe your child’s actions, expand words, have conversations, and ask questions that have more than one or two word answers.
Both posters, with their simple but powerful tips would make terrific handouts at parent conference or parent involvement events.
