Welcome, dear teacher. . .
Come on in.
Make yourself comfortable and be sure to put your tired feet up. If I could, I would offer you coffee or a cool lemonade, a bowl of popcorn or some chocolate. Since I can’t, I’ll settle for encouraging you to do something nice for yourself while you read. You most certainly deserve it.
For one reason or anther you have found your way to this blog. I’m so excited to have you here.
Welcome! I hope you’ll decide to stay for a while and come back often.
I’m a teacher, too, so I know how precious your time is. I’ve spent nearly 30 years working in public education as a classroom teacher, special education teacher, Reading Recovery teacher and principal. I’ve been there. I know what you’re up against.
- You’re skeptical at times
- You’re a bit exhausted
- Your classrooms are more diverse than ever
- You’re already on resource overload
- You’re frustrated with the increased demands of standardized testing
I’ve created this site because I believe that despite the challenges you face, you can dramatically raise the reading success rates of all of your children by consistently implementing just a few proven strategies. By the way, proven strategies is just a simpler way of saying the “scientifically research based strategies” mouthful that everyone has been throwing around since the introduction of NCLB. Getting reading instruction right doesn’t have to be as complicated as we’ve sometimes made it. I promise.
This site can help.
